Another Down Day

It is Autumn so nature is releasing all the allergens in her possession. Therefore, my nose is completely stopped up, my chest feels heavy, and it is hard to breathe. And I am tired. Physically tired from coughing all night, emotionally tired from not having an income stream, and spiritually tired from the current political environment. (Are we really going to have a public execution? I mean really?)

I am doing everything I can about the allergies, but basically, I just need to wait until the first freeze. Some say the first freeze will be this month, so fingers crossed.

Spiritually, I will be voting in a couple of weeks, and I encourage everyone I see to do the same. Change doesn't happen if nothing changes (thanks Jared for this saying). So, make sure to vote and maybe some changes will happen.

Spiritually, I also need to stop blaming God for the current political environment. If he is all knowing and all powerful, he should have foreseen the issues we are having and had the election go a different way. My husband tells me "Free Will". At times like this, I wonder if free will was a mistake. I don't think we humans can handle it.

Then there is the emotional exhaustion from being restructured and still being unemployed a year later. My recruiter says I interview great, but my technical background is hurting me when it comes to Senior Accounting jobs. The lower salary and lower technical issues seem to make people think I will not stick around. And then there is the age thing.

I have yet to land a client for my bookkeeping business. I need to get together a script to cold call small accounting firms to see if we can partner up and decrease their data input duties. It seems like a win/win, but I am having trouble getting started.

I try to remind myself of the positives. I have a home to live in, a husband who puts up with me, two beautiful daughters and two lovely granddaughters. And Boomer the boxer dog, who tries my patience on a minute-by-minute basis. I have plenty of money saved up, so we are currently financially secure. I worry about the money running out in our later years, but as my youngest granddaughter says, that is a future Linda problem.

Keep your chin up. As they say, "this too will pass".

Much love,

Linda
