Balancing Books and Life Lessons from My Dog: A Bookkeeper's Journey

Accounting and Bookkeeping can seem daunting to a non-financial person, but once you learn the rules it gets a lot easier. I will be sharing accounting and bookkeeping information along with some personal stories from my 20 years working as an accountant and stories of my dog who teaches me how to live authentically and joyfully. (It doesn't matter how much I find his journey irritating.)

Boomer

This is Boomer. He is named after the mascot for the Oklahoma Sooners football team. My husband is a big fan. This picture is from a few weeks after we rescued Boomer, he is about 3 years old in this picture. I walked past the patio door and wondered why there was a black dog in my backyard. Then, to my horror, I realized it wasn't a black dog, it was Boomer covered in mud. He very much enjoyed digging in the backyard and playing in the resultant mud piles. He was not perturbed about my anguish one bit and politely jumped into the bathtub to be cleaned. Luckily this phase didn't last long.

Trying to run a business can also have moments of horror when you realize you have double paid a bill or forgotten to pay a bill or when you have no idea whether the bill should be an expense or go into inventory.
