Boomer never listens to me.

There is a challenge on Facebook where you call your dog's name while they are sitting right next to you. The dogs are generally confused (with the head tilt) and jump on their owner to let them know they are there. I have been doing this to Boomer since we rescued him. He completely ignores me. Eventually, he will give me a side eye that says, "leave me alone". Also, If I can't find him in the house and call out to him, he does not answer nor does he come to me. I keep looking and when I finally find him and he just looks at me like I am an idiot. 

As a bookkeeper, it can be very frustrating when a client does not listen. The purpose of a bookkeeper is to organize a client's financial data and give them guidance on the what the numbers are saying, but that task is a lot harder when your suggestions are ignored.

For instance, a request to scan and send receipts in a timely manner, can be ignored if the client is always busy with running the business. It is the bookkeeper's job to explain that sending the receipts timely is necessary to keep their books current and accurate. 

You can try getting access to the client's credit card statements electronically. Pulling the statements yourself can get you the information quicker, so you can start reconciling numbers, but you will still need to get the receipts for back up. Especially if your client needs his books audited for debt covenants. Auditors are obsessed with receipts. 

In the past, I have tried copying an assistant or co-worker on the email, so they can remind the client or send the information to me. 

Have you had issues with clients not listening to you? How did you resolve it? I have looked into training for Boomer, but it seems that boxers are considered untrainable because they have the attention span of a two-year old. 😃
